OSCA Cruising Award Reminder!

Ahoy OSCA Fleet!

Just wanted to remind everyone to submit their cruising log to be eligible for the Annual Cruising Award. The Cruising Award is given each year to the boat that travels the longest distance (total accumulated mileage) on a single cruise. Awards are given in the Retiree and Non-Retiree categories.

The cutoff for me to receive the logs is Friday October 25. I need to have them on that date. So get yours in today!

You can submit them to me at jdskchirns@aol.com or by mail to16 Glen View Dr, Bristol, RI 02809.

Thanks,
Jeff

OSCA October Updates!

Ahoy OSCA Fleet!

Well our sailing season is coming to a close. I hope you've had a great time this year sailing with family and friends! It has been an exciting year for OSCA. We have had some great times and our events have been well attended. Thank you for all your support of this great organization!

We concluded our on water events last weekend at the Ida Lewis Yacht Club. Saturday made for a great sail down to Newport with 20+ knots of wind out of the northeast. We had a great gathering for dinner at the ever popular Red Parrott. After dinner a few gathered for night caps and watched a great pitching dual between our Red Sox and the Tigers. The score wasn't what we were hoping for but what can you do. Sunday morning we were treated to a great home made breakfast of pancakes, eggs and english muffins. Yummy! Our pizza party was relocated because the ILYC could not pick up the Patriots game. We watched the first half from The Deck and the second frm O'Briens Pub. Dinner at the pub was good. During half time we held our Membership Meeting. The finances were reviewed (thanks Kevin) and we are in good shape. The next item was a vote on the 2014 Officers. Nominated and accepted were:

Commodore - Jill Clement
Vice Commodore - Lee Rabbitt
Rear Commodore - Bruce Fraunfelter
Fleet Captain - John Greenwood
Secretary - Deb Chirnside
Treasurer - Kevin Rabbitt
Web Master - Bet Stickney

After the meeting we enjoyed watching the last minute comeback by the Patriots to beat the Saints. Later that night the Red Sox had some last minute herotics by beating the Tigers in the nineth. What a weekend! I want to give a big THANK YOU to Jill Clement for organizing this event!
